Topping-out Ceremony at Wendenschloßstraße 158
The Dahme almost at your doorstep, green spaces everywhere, and the charming Köpenick old town pleasantly close by: From 2026, a new home with a high feel-good factor will be created on Wendenschloßstraße for Berliners. This project is made possible through a collaboration between ZSB and Gewobag, who celebrated the topping-out ceremony for their joint new construction project in the Treptow-Köpenick district on Wednesday (May 8, 2024).
Malte Bädelt and Markus Terboven, board members of the state-owned Gewobag, invited Urban Development Senator Christian Gaebler and District Councilor Dr. Claudia Leistner to a special symbolic act: Together, they completed the lushly greened topping-out wreath with small house models representing the new quarter. The wreath, adorned with blue ribbons symbolizing the proximity to the water, was then ceremoniously raised.
Just as smoothly as this ceremony, the construction of the seven buildings, being erected by ZSB and Gewobag, has progressed since the summer of 2023. These buildings, up to seven stories high, will overlook the former industrial area between Wendenschloßstraße and Dahme.
“Our future tenants will benefit from sustainable neighborhood development, offering direct access to a public park with playgrounds. The Dahme and its inviting river promenade are also within easy walking distance. Here, natural and urban elements come together in 255 modern, mostly barrier-free 1- to 5-room apartments offered at affordable rents. A total of 219 of these apartments will be rented at subsidized rates starting from €7.00 per sqm. With this quarter, ZSB and Gewobag make a significant contribution to making Berlin more livable and affordable.” said Markus Terboven, member of the board at Gewobag.
